Yesterday, years ago now, as I stopped at the United States Postal Service annex in Roswell, New Mexico to see if there was any mail for me to take to El Paso, Texas, a cold hearted reality touched my life.
Until this day, never had there been mail destined for El Paso and its surrounding areas, nothing, not a letter, nor package of any sort. Yesterday though, a week before Easter, there was something, not just an anything something, but life. There in that little room waiting for my arrival and subsequent dispatch, were 50 or so boxes of Easter’s Shame, life bound for eventual death at the hands of those celebrating the resurrection and rebirth of Christ.
Oh, now you want to stop reading, because you say your heart can’t take what I might say next and that too would be Easter’s Shame. So, if your heart is so beautiful that it screams, don’t read on, then you have a God given choice to make, right here and right now.
If your heart pounds in fear at what it does not want to hear, then tell your heart to be strong in its convictions, and change what it cannot stand to know. For only in our feeling of too much pain, will we change our culpable behavior into righteous action, and only then will we be the change that we want to see. It is from the birth in our pain that we become the righteous answers to despicable questions and become the change and light of the world.
Sitting there in those 50 or so boxes were the thousand or so cheeping, peeping baby Easter chicks and ducklings, bound for stores just to pleasure us - we so called Christians and the parents of another of Gods innocent, our children.
Why do I call this Easter’s Shame, because it is a sick, despicable thing to do, to give God’s most innocent to God’s most innocent in order to pleasure our hearts on the day we celebrate Christ’s resurrection, the very essence of life itself.
This is not merely a shameful event, but it is a blasphemous touting of our humanistic furtherance of sin in God’s face. If you call your self a Christian, recognize God in any way, tout yourself as being spiritually awakened or just consider yourself a good person, you too are guilty in this crime of crimes.
If, like me, though, this is an awakening event in your life, then let it be the breath in your next steps, steps to change a hedonistic behavior that sacrifices beautiful innocent life at Evil’s behest.
...and if you and I do not change our behavior in this matter, and should we choose to close our eyes to this, then it is in our chosen denial of this that we too are Easter’s Shame.
The next choice, our God given choice, is in our hands, as are the lives of God’s most innocent.
May this Easter and all the rest to come, bring each of us closer to God and to all of God’s beautiful children - two legged, four legged, feather or fin. Now, let’s take the shame out of Easter and make it the true celebration of rebirth that it represents. Happy Easter, My Souls. ~ I Am - Wisdom
Below is my letter to my employer at the time. Shortly after sending this to them, I was let go. That was a good thing, as I will not knowingly work for enablers of darkness.
Here is USPS’ Facebook page. Let them know how you feel about this despicable part of their business.

My Letter To My Former Employer
“Dear Human Resources,
I am bringing a concern of mine to your attention. Last night I picked up a van load of baby chicks and/or ducks for transport to Alamogordo, El Paso and surrounding areas.
While I did this, it was under protest. To clarify, the shipping of life for profit and pleasure goes against my beliefs, my spiritual and religious beliefs. Now while most will blindly do what they are asked or told to do, this is wrong in everyway decency is involved. While this may occur again and while I won't let these beautiful creatures just sit out in the cold, I do so under duress and protest.
I have worked in corporate environments much of my life, and never have I been employed without first being made privy to the company's "job description" or all other job requirements. Yours is the first company that I have ever been hired by, with nothing but an employment application and the required governmental documentation. While most would love this, most too would just do what they are told to do without question. That however, is not me. I do question the transport of live animals for mere profit, especially when the same entity, the United States Postal Service limits and prevents others from shipping perishable items. Well, life is perishable, especially when having to be set out in the cold for any length of time.
I took this job simply to help out a gentleman who needed surgery and who is trying to recover from it. I too did this to help out my son, who was originally contacted multiple times to take this late night route in addition to his daytime route. From kindness and concern, I took this job in the understanding that I would be delivering "mail", letters, envelopes and the like, not live sentient beings. In my beliefs, life is precious, more so than money, profit or satisfying human pleasures, especially during a celebration of rebirth and resurrection.
Going forward, I prefer to deliver mail, inanimate objects and not God's creatures, especially in the name of profit. If I have to transport live animals again, again it will be under duress and protest. That being said, if my son chooses to take this route during times that animals are being transported and it is acceptable to your company, then it too would be acceptable by me. I know this is a "right to work" state and that you can hire and fire at will, just like I can quit a job at will and without notice. I hope neither of us choose that route as it would not only be wrong, but a matter we can solve by communication, respect and understanding.
As it is my choice to live within my beliefs, it too is my son's choice, as it is yours. I do hope you have the where-with-all and the courage to look beyond mere contracts and profit to do the right and Godly thing in this and future matters, but that is your choice.
I would like to share these following words with you and your company. I hope they help you understand my belief in this matter as well help those looking beyond man, to see God's creations as more than just dollar signs at Easter.
I look forward to your response and our ability to come to an amenable soul-lution.” ~ Mark Bell
Shortly after my communication, I was let go.

Mark, I know you most likely would've left this job whether you were fired or not. Because, you have a heart and may I add, a soul. What a different world we would be sharing if everyone stood up to these seemingly "not such a big deal" events. Nothing is a small deal if it causes harm and suffering. Thank you for enriching the planet with such a BIG gesture...
