There is an old saying; it is better to listen than to talk. Most of us have heard this or a variation of this saying. Most of us apply that thinking to everyday situations and everyday conversations. What we do is apply that to our physical world and only for moments.
Here is how we must use these wise words. We must look beyond the physical, beyond our bodies, beyond our relationships and our work. These directions are true and accurate to each of us on our separate journeys. There are many like me, who are or were lost, who instead of finding and knowing their passion, their calling, stumble around aimlessly doing what society tells them to do. In our world, we are worthy if we are successful financially and, well, tolerated or felt sorry for, if we are not. I am saying this because I have lived this every day of my life. I have envied those who took off in a particular direction with a known objective, while I seemed just to walk around, lost, not having a clue why I was here. My problem was, I listened to the chatter from society and society’s directions. Until the last few years, when I lost loves in my life, all my money from trying to save my wife’s life and from poor judgment, I had always lived as I was taught to live within the physical realm and no further.
What I have come to know is that the old saying I mentioned above applies to our entire lives, not just momentary conversations. Consider that during our spiritual lives and before we find peace and arrive in our heaven, we use many vehicles, many bodies. Like during our human existence, we use many different shoes during our body’s life. So, take a moment, set aside the belief that we only use one body in our spiritual journey. Consider the notion that over our existence, our soul’s life, we go through many shoes, many vehicles in our travels to our ultimate wisdom, to ourselves. Do you think that during some of the journeys, we might be tasked with listening and learning and not doing? Like any journey we have been on in the physical, there are times when we are not doing anything more than riding or walking along, just observing, just listening, and learning. During a soul’s travels, there will be times when we might need to listen and observe and nothing more. While we feel we are supposed to be doing something, that feeling is what society says, not what God says.
Some of you know my writings and understand that God is all things, not one entity on a golden throne, but the universe and beyond. It is time we listened to the universe, to God. It is time we see ourselves as more than the shoes we use during our travels. It is time we stop casting judgment upon those who appear to be listless when they are merely listening and observing their teachings. We may want to justify our way of thinking, what society has said we should think and feel, that we should get a haircut and a real job. We want to feel right in ourselves and our thinking, but what we have done is cast judgment upon those who God has set upon their journeys, which we are not privy to. When we are tempted to judge others because their lives or their thinking is different than ours, we should pay more attention to ourselves, our journeys and our lessons, because that is why we are here. Those we have been taught through societal standards, who are less than us, who aren’t living like we believe they should live, are not mistakes, nor are they just taking up space. They, like us, are fulfilling God’s plan. They like us are learning, unlearning and growing. They, like us, need not judgment but help.
God does not make mistakes. You are not a mistake. I am not a mistake. We are pupils, students and teachers; children on our unique journeys to find ourselves, to become one with all things, with God.
Today, look at yourself as nothing less than a child of God. Today, look at others as nothing less than children of God. Today, look at your situation as the classroom you are learning in, the lesson plan you are following, and that our teacher alone understands. Today, let’s not look at those different from us, who appear to have more or less than we have as being unfortunate or more fortunate. Today, let us work on us, not them.
God does not make mistakes. You are the most beautiful soul God has ever imagined. Believe in yourself. Believe in others even though they are different or don’t behave like you or how society thinks they should behave. Today, live your life, travel your journey, and if you come across another child of God, don’t judge them, listen. ~ I Am - Wisdom
