The following question was asked. My response follows.
“Do you believe it is important to remember "past lives"?
First, I will caveat my response with this. There are some who do not believe in past lives. I however, see us as infinite cognizant energy, a soul, which exists forever. I guess we must first define life. There is a difference between the life of the flesh and a life of the soul. Just as all things physical fail and decay, energy, soul, we continue to exist. Now, if we were mere flesh, just the vessel we use, then yes life would be over when our body “died”. But, we are not. We are an enduring energy, a force, a light, a soul that even as we change form, exists forever. So, like we may have many automobiles, many refrigerators, shoes, socks and everything else we go through, we too may have many vessels we use during our journey to our true and pure selves. We have many classrooms in order to learn many lessons and discover many gifts.
My Response To The Question Above
“Sometimes, it is better that we don't recall what we have done. Though we may be old souls, that does not mean we did not make mistakes and were not despicable. Even when we were successful, sometimes it is not beneficial to fall back on past accomplishments when we have not properly dealt with ego.
I'd say we are blessed in many cases with the grace we have been granted by our not recalling our despicable moments, nor sitting back on ego's laurels.
Maybe, when we have progressed past the desires of the physical and have properly addressed our weakness and are acting in conjunction with the universe and God, then, it would be the right time to recall our past lives with everything that entails - our brilliance and our failures.
Finally, it is not physical memory that matters, but our knowing from a connected, one-soul beingness.”
From another discussion with another soul, I ask you to ask yourself this:
(NOTE: This is a raw question, so, know that from this point, this may be painful.)
Would you rather be violated over and over, or would you rather be the person violating others, over and over? Your answer lays out your journey. There are two ways to step here.
In one direction, ego will not allow itself to be wrong or despicable and will
say in its justifiably protective words, “I have violated and I will continue to violate, or it will justify by “playing” the role of the victim.
The other way is, I will be the violated because even though I look to be the victim, I am not. I am saving myself from my own graceless demise and in that act, I darken the world not, and I am free. ~ I Am - Wisdom
