Turning Cheeks - When Enough is Enough
From 18 April 2021 - There are times that we are to turn our other cheek, but not forever. When no fruit is found, we simple remove ourselves from the matter. Be not a doormat. Click to read more.
What do we do when we have turned our other cheek, when what we graced, persists? For much of my life, I have turned my other cheek, and more times than I can count, I turned it again and again. So, what do we do when turning our other cheek produces more of the same. For me, I found that I had a lesson or two to learn. Those lessons, in part, helped me to remove myself from in front of the door. Yes, I was a doormat for others who trodden upon me. While they were responsible for treating me as not much more than a place to wipe their feet, I too was complicit in my soiling. While we are to grace those who trample over us, we are not to be doormats. There is a time, maybe after we gave our other cheek, to remove ourselves from the path of those who walk over us. As I have learned throughout my life, it was me who set the precedence through my allowance in matters of others shedding their filth upon me. When we allow others to trudge over us again and again, we tell them we are okay with being walked upon. A time comes when we, for our own sake, say no more; we are not mere souls to be trampled over because others believe they are entitled to do so.
It is not just okay to stand up and set boundaries but is needed by us, and them. It is a sad day when we pronounce to the world that we or others are but mats beneath the feet of the privileged. Especially in love, we can, no we must disallow our degradation, for to allow its continuance, we tell those who look down on us, and others that they have the right to do so. We must communicate what we have not said, for the unspoken sickens us, as do breaths not exhaled.
Know that you are not just dirt beneath the shoes of others. Know that after you have given grace repeatedly, that it is not bad to speak up for yourself. Though speaking our truth may not be easy, it is necessary for all involved. And, yes, there may be anger and reactions to our standing for ourselves, but it is right and righteous to be God's most beautiful image. Be the wonder who you are and bow before none, other than God. Bless you. You are precious and worthy. ~ I Am - Wisdom (Mark)
