A new question and my response over coffee this morning.
“Are more people becoming empaths than ever before?
If so why? How?”
Empath - “The term gets thrown around a lot. You may find yourself wondering what exactly an empath is. Empathy quite literally means “in feeling”. Simply put, an empath is somebody who can feel the emotions of others as if they were one's own.”
There is a desire to be in a clique, a part of something more, but that does not mean everyone is truly empathic. Yes, this ability exists, but it must be allowed. For some, this continues from their arrival here, but for others, they must allow this to develop. Empathy is a natural ability, an innate part of who and what we are. Sadly, many are far away from their essence, therefore, empathy is not felt as genuinely or as strongly as is possible. When one is self-absorbed, they see, or feel no further than their own beingness. Self-absorption is generally from some type of trauma during one’s existence. Depending on the degree of the traumatic event or when the event occurred, it can affect, in part, how we live now. If we have never healed, our wounds speak more loudly than most anything else. However, if our pants are on fire, of course our attention will be centered on self, at least until the flames are extinguished. On the other side of this, is the individual soul and their willingness.
These days, more people are stepping outside their corporeal labels and starting to become more than just their vehicles, which helps in one’s feeling empathy. Being an empath means you are awakening more and more. Empathy is an ability that begins to blossom as our concerns grow past ourselves. There is more happening than just being empathic. As we allow all that binds us to the physical world to fall away, our natural abilities become more pronounced. We are becoming the essence of our beginnings.
What can one do to nurture empathy? First, don’t focus on the result, the wake, but what causes the waves. We are not mere ripples in the water, we are the creators of tsunamis. Your intent should not be on feeling empathy, but on you, the feeler of empathy. When one does not exhibit a natural ability, or beingness, one must focus on themselves. Further more, we mustn’t lose ourselves to the whys and what-ifs. As one begins challenging everything we thought we knew and recognize the illusions and our delusions for what they are, closer to our essence we become. This takes challenging ourselves to look, where once we thought we knew.
Now, here is where ego steps in and thwarts most from becoming more than who and what they see in the mirror. Two things must happen here. We must first believe we are not flesh, that we are soul, and then we must see the difference between us and ego. The journey ends here for those who cannot first believe there is more to them than who they have been taught they are. After having faith that we are more, we gradually start to understand more and more. This happens when we recognize ego as being separate than us, and we start putting it in its place. This is very simple, but can be very hard without daily and moment to moment practice. Many, if not most stop here, because we are so used to being and acting from ego instead of self. If we can get past this point, then an understanding starts developing and from there, we start to know and then, to be.
Empathy is but one aspect of spirit, albeit a beautiful but torturous aspect. Lastly, awakening never stops. There is no awake, only the journey. There will be more who want to be in the clique than are willing to suffer the journey to themselves. To those willing to suffer the feelings of others and the fires of enlightenment, may this step to you be the best lessons and teachings you have experienced yet. It will not be easy, unless of course, it is ego who wants just to be something it is not. ~ I Am - Wisdom
This helps me understand more what empaths are adn what they feel. I really only knew empathy was what you feel when you see or hear of something. Thank you for explaining this.
